Album Sleeves Care!

Vinyl Records Collector Dog Picture

Warped Vinyl Records

It is not advisable to keep the original thin manufacturers wrapper on your records while in storage. These wrappers are known as the shrink wrappers and that's exactly what it does. Over time it shrinks causing damage to the record sleeve and its contents. The effect. "Warped Vinyl Records!" There are special types of sleeve covers such as high-density polyethylene and the acid free type sleeves, there are also the rice paper inner sleeves made in Japan, but they are expensive to buy.

Stack Your Records Vertical!

My idea is to try to preserve the original sleeve, but not if it's the plastic bag type inner sleeve. I could tell you to use the acid free type inner sleeves, but the real truth of the matter is; "It is your responsibility". Be careful how you remove your vinyl’s from their inner sleeves if you really value your vinyl’s. I personally never encourage the use of plastic lined sleeves as they can create chemical reactions during storage. ... Stack your records in a vertical position, not slanted as this can cause warps in your vinyls for long life and playability, proper storage of your vinyl records is paramount!
