Is there another record producer and singer songwriter who could muster up a lyrical phrase such as “ Babylon You Cookie Jar a Crumble; man I can hear you teeth a rumble." from the album Return Of Pipecock Jacxson. Scratch was christened Rainford Hugh Perry. Rainford Perry born in Jamaica W. I. on the 20th March 1936. Much is written about Lee Scratch Perry and his music; what is written here may not do him justice. The Author feels that he should have a place on this website to present his thoughts of the great modern day connoisseur of the musical recording productive realms and innovator of sounds achieved thirty years ago that is evident in today's music all over the world. Lee Perry was way ahead of his time. He was more famous outside of his country, but like all great men they are not recognised in their own homeland. Today's reggae music are redone music of the seventies, but as yet none of the producers of today or yesteryear has ever succeeded in emulating Lee Perry's music.
