| The simplest effective methodical cleaner is a carbon-fibre brush. The fibres bring out the dust from the bottom of the grooves, whilst a felt pad collects it. Using fluid cleaners as an alternative only removes the surface dust. The antistatic gun is a preventive method. It shoots a stream of electrically charged atoms onto the vinyl record surface, neutralizing static electricity which would otherwise attract dust. Antistatic cloths are not very effective, and often a waste of money. But then again each vinyl record collector has their own method for cleaning their prize vinyl. |
